Primary gastric, duodenal, and rectal signet ring cell carcinoma revealed by cutaneous metastasis.

چکیده
cutaneous metastases, which revealed three sites of signet ring cell carcinoma. A 50-year-old woman presented with painless cutaneous nodules, along with a change in bowel habit and weight loss. She had no history of rectal bleeding. Skin examination revealedmultiple nodules on the left side of her neck (●" Fig. 1a), below her right breast, onherback in a zoster-like distribution, and in the perineal region (●" Fig. 1b). The nodules, which were erythematous and not well-circumscribed, were soft, slightly indurated, and non-mobile. Histopathological examination of the skin nodules revealed diffuse infiltration of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue by tumor cells. Immunohistochemical analysis indicated a diagnosis of secondary tumor and was suggestive of digestive tract origin. Colonoscopy revealed a congested, elevated rectal mass, between 5 cm and 8 cm from the anal verge, which was causing partial narrowing of the lumen (●" Fig. 2). Histological examination revealed a signet ring cell adenocarcinoma (●" Fig. 3). In view of the histological finding of rectal signet ring cell adenocarcinoma, gastroscopy was performed to exclude a primary gastric tumor. This revealed multiple nodules over the body of the stomach, and within the second part of the duodenum. Histological examination of gastric and duodenal biopsies was compatible with a signet ring cell carcinoma. The patient died 2 weeks later. Cutaneous metastasis is a relatively uncommon manifestation of visceral malignancies. It mostly occurs late in the course of the disease, but may also be the first presentation of an underlying cancer [1]. Cutaneous metastases are most commonly adenocarcinomas (60%), but 15% are squamous cell carcinomas. Only 6% of cutaneous metastases that are secondary to solid visceral tumors are caused by gastrointestinal carcinomas [2,3]. Signet ring cell carcinoma of the duodenum is extremely uncommon [4]. Our case therefore showed both unusual clinical and Primary gastric, duodenal, and rectal signet ring cell carcinoma revealed by cutaneous metastasis

Multiple nodular cutaneous metastases as the first clinical sign of signet ring cell gastric carcinoma: case report.
Cutaneous metastases from signet ring cell gastric carcinoma are uncommon. A 35-year-old male presented with a three-month history of multiple asymptomatic, indurated, pinky colored nodules of 2.5 to 4 cm in diameter, without any local and general symptoms. Nodule biopsy revealed an infiltrating signet ring cell carcinoma. Gastroscopy and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of gastric carcinoma with...
متن کاملIncidental gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma metastasis to the skin in basal cell carcinoma.
The skin is an unusual location for métastases from visceral carcinoma, and cutaneous métastases from gastric carcinoma are rare. Cutaneous métastases display various clinical features, but usually occur as non-specific firm nodules. However, no cases of occult métastases from gastric carcinoma have been reported. We describe here a patient with clinically unapparent cutaneous metastasis fi^om ...
متن کاملGastric metastasis of mammary signet ring cell carcinoma--a differential diagnosis with primary gastric signet ring cell carcinoma.
Metastasis of breast carcinoma to the stomach is relatively uncommon, although metastasis to other organs such as lung, bone, and lymph nodes is not rare. It may cause difficulty in differentiating from primary gastric carcinoma. We report a case of signet ring cell carcinoma of the breast with metastasis to the stomach with illustrations of histologic findings of both lesions. The results of i...
متن کاملIntracranial hypertension as the primary symptom of gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma
BACKGROUND Intracranial hypertension (IH) is a neurological disorder characterized by increased intracranial pressure. It is a poorly understood syndrome that most commonly manifests nonspecific symptoms such as stroke-like headache, vision changes, nausea, vomiting, and papilledema. IH has been reported in young cancer patients but never in association with gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma. ...
متن کاملBreast metastases of gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma: a report of two cases and review of the literature
It is occasionally difficult to diagnose breast metastasis of gastric carcinoma because of its rarity. However, to appropriately treat patients with breast tumors without delay, it is important to distinguish metastatic cancer from primary breast cancer. We report two cases of breast metastasis of gastric carcinoma and review the literature. The first case was a 41-year-old female diagnosed wit...
